Tissue Regenerative Therapy (TRT)
Here at Dynamic Chiropractic, we believe that each and every person should have an opportunity for their outside to shine and reflect what they feel on the inside. No person should look in the mirror and not feel confident and beautiful knowing that they truly look their very best. Sometimes genetics and lifestyle can get in the way. If we can make that better... That is our mission!!!
Common questions
What is Cellulite?
We are all born with connective tissue fibers that connect the inner and outer layers of our skin. Naturally there is a thin layer of fat that is sandwiched between those two layers for insulation and protection. Those connective tissue fibers are scattered throughout amongst the layer of fat. As we age and/or as genetics come into play, those connective tissue fibers become fibrotic (tighten and shorten). Cellulite is apparent when those fibers tighten and shorten and squish the layer of fat out making the appearance of dimples in the skin.
What is Tissue Regenerative Therapy (TRT)?
Tissue Regenerative Therapy increases blood supply, modulates inflammation, stimulates and activates stem cells, thereby repairing and regenerating tissue, and reducing acute and chronic pain.
How does TRT treat Cellulite?
Tissue Regenerative Therapy is a technique that utilizes sound waves (acoustic waves) that penetrates and break up damaged fibrotic connective tissue under the skin that causes the dimpling of the skin. The treatment then stimulates the body’s own ability to send stem cells to that damaged area to promote the healing and repair process.
How should I prepare for TRT?
TRT is a treatment that is administered directly on the skin. Dynamic Chiropractic is an open and friendly family office. Therefore, you will want to wear loose fitting comfortable clothing that allows the treatment area to be exposed easily. Shorts are our best recommendation.
What is the TRT recovery like?
There is zero down time for recovery. Due to the fact that TRT is extremely non-invasive there is not even any numbing agent needed. You will be able to resume regular activity and workout intensity the same day. Most patients noted a slight “tightening” feeling of the skin the next day.
Is TRT right for me?
During your consultation, our highly trained doctors will sit with you to evaluate the condition and severity of your cellulite. At that time, they will be able to give you their best recommendations for a treatment schedule with realistic expectations for results based on previous results that we have seen in our office. If your cellulite has limited or stopped you from attending social events, if your outfits are dictated by your legs, if you dread anything revolving around putting a bathing suite on, or if you just don’t love what you see in the mirror, then a simple free consultation could change everything for you.
Understanding cellulite
As we age these types of tissues become ridged and lose their elasticity. When these specific fibrous bands become ridged they pull the two layers of the skin closer together causing an outpouching of the superficial layer of fat. This is the common formation of the “dimpling” effect of our skin.
What cellulite is NOT:
- First and foremost… it is not your fault!!!
- It is not a loss of elasticity of your skin. Loose skin is a real thing with age; however, that doesn't cause cellulite.
- It is not a lack of going to the gym. Plenty of women that work out 6 days a week have cellulite.
- And lastly, loud and clear… It is NOT fat!!!
Treatment options
According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association, there are only a few forms of treatment of cellulite that are not only FDA approved but also are effective in reducing cellulite for a prolonged time period.
Acoustic Wave Therapy (SoftWave Tissue Regenerative Therapy)
Sound waves that penetrate into the damaged tissue and break up the adhesions and fibrotic tissue that is causing the dimpling of the skin. The braking down of the damaged tissue then stimulates the body to pull in stem cells to regenerate that tissue with more elasticity. This procedure has the potential to have permanent results for years.
- Application
- Non-Invasive
- Results
- Significant reduction of appearance of cellulite that last for a year or longer
- Cost
- $2,000 to $2,500
Laser Treatment (Cellulaze)
Laser fiber is inserted beneath the skin. When the laser is fired, the laser energy breaks up the tough bands beneath the skin that cause us to see the cellulite.
- Application
- Invasive
- Results
- Some dimpling usually returns; results last 6 months or longer
- Cost
- $2500 to $9500 (depending on treatment area)
Subcision (Cellfina)
Dermatologist inserts needles under the skin to microblade the connective tissue under the skin that is fibrotic and causing the dimpling of the skin.
- Application
- Invasive
- Results
- Moderate reduction of appearance of cellulite that last for a year or longer
- Cost
- $2000 to $5000
Vacuum-Assisted Precise Tissue Release (similar to liposuction)
Dermatologist inserts small blades under the skin to cut the tough fibrotic bands under the skin that cause the dimpling.
- Application
- Invasive
- Results
- Moderate reduction of appearance of cellulite that last for a year or longer
- Cost
- $3000 to $5000
Carboxytherapy
Medical doctor inserts/injects carbon dioxide gas beneath the skin.
- Application
- Invasive
- Results
- Minimal and temporary
- Cost
- $1600 to $2000
Creams and lotions
Apply lotions topically to the skin daily that contain aminophylline and caffeine. Aminophylline is known to cause breathing problems with patients.
